How to make the most of LISS when walking with your buggy

LISS, which stands for Low Intensity Steady State, exercise is a great thing to fit into your weekly exercise regime but when you have to wrestle with your buggy on a day to day basis it feels like a challenge to make the most of this time. So I have got a few suggestions below which you can use to really make the most of this time.

  • Walk faster than normal! Sounds so obvious, but seriously walk fast! You still want to be able to hold a conversation, but walk at a speed that you can really feel your heart beating when you stop.
  • Don’t stop for coffee halfway round… just saying… this isn’t the optimum halfway action. I have totally done this, so don’t feel too bad if you have too, but it just isn’t going to keep your heart rate up for that 30/40 mins you are walking.
  • Do some other exercises to really make the most of this time:

So before you skip over this bit… I felt EXACTLY the same as you about using park furniture to exercise on, but after doing these with Rupert there I am forever converted! He loved it and I got such a good workout in!

Step ups onto a bench 

Press ups on a bench 

Tricep dips

Squats with baby! 

Lunges with baby!

Bench jumps
